Pedestrians will walk through a spiral galaxy in the pavement and sit on other-worldly benches while the installation senses and responds to them in surprising ways. The computer-controlled sound and light system uses LED illumination.

This new art experience will be an interactive, surprising and thought-provoking addition to the public right-of-way.

ArtSPACE is a remarkably complex effort led by the determined and capable Project Manager and Lead Artist, Jessica Randall.   The project includes landscape plantings, an enormous central sculpture, intriguing lighting fixtures, pavement art, glass art, and hundreds of feet of electrical wiring buried below the sidewalk.

Jessica mobilized countless volunteers, coordinated a web of city agencies and permits, sought support from the adjacent property owner, the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and spoke to neighborhood businesses and residents to get their feedback.

Most of the labor is done by volunteers. As shown by the amount of help provided by the neighborhood, Fremont was definitely ready for a new art installation.

Many thanks to the faithful: Brian Regan Properties, City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, BNBuilders, Electrical Designer Chuck Harrison, and other members of the Fremont Arts Council,   Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Neighborhood Council, Adobe, Seattle Department of Transportation, Seattle Public Utilities, B-Bam T-Shirts and all the volunteers and supporters of ArtSPACE.
