Thanks to everyone who helped with the Float Move!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Powerhouse to volunteer their strong backs and strong trucks! We had a delightful and productive time moving floats.

And in case you’ve ever wondered why you should come volunteer with us, I give you this picture of Power Bacon:

Each piece of bacon was coated in chocolate and contained 200mg of caffeine. Perfect for float moving in the heat of the day!

Want to get involved and experience the wonder of Power Bacon for yourself? We have plenty of volunteer opportunities.

Parade Staff Positions Announcement
Contact: Leslie Zenz lesliez@fremontartscouncil.org

The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) is seeking qualified and spectacular individuals to staff the 2012 Fremont Solstice Parade. The Fremont Solstice Parade is the defining event of the FAC. We celebrate the longest day of the year through profound street theater, public spectacle, and a kaleidoscope of joyous human expression. This handmade parade consists of human-powered floats and community-based ensembles.

The single most important attribute of all parade staff will be the ability to keep it fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Feast of the Winter Solstice

Feast of the Winter Solstice
Wednesday December 21st, 2011

The ancient energy of the Winter Solstice is something people have celebrated for centuries, and we take up our place in carrying forth this experience.

We gather at this time, the same night each year regardless of when it falls, to celebrate the earth, it’s bounty, our own place in time, and community, to share a meal, to talk, sing, and dance en route to our ancient souls. We go there with much joy, exultation and appreciation.

Everyone contributes to this feast, it is a potluck feast. Bring something yummy to share, dress beautifully and be ready to celebrate! All ages are welcome. Kids do not need to purchase tickets if they are not driving themselves.

To purchase a ticket for admittance go to Brown Paper Tickets: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/215368
