Join us for the 12th annual
Luminata: Lantern Parade
Luminata: Lantern Parade, a celebration of the Autumnal Equinox, will be held on Friday September 21st, 2012.
On the heels of the joyful & exuberant 24th annual Fremont Solstice Parade, the Fremont Arts Council will celebrate the autumnal equinox on Friday September 21st with the sweet & illuminating ‘Luminata’ lantern parade around Green Lake Park in Seattle.
Meet at dusk (~7pm) at the Boat House on the South shores of Green Lake Park. The parade begins just after dark.
The fall equinox is a wonderful time for celebrating the change of seasons. Many traditions around the world recognize the last days of the productive summer are about to shift into the dark and introspective time of winter. Lanterns are a beautiful symbol of our spirit as a community that will sustain us through the cold months.
Open workshop hours will be held 2 weeks prior to the event:
Tues/Wed/Thur 6-9pm (Sept 11-13 & 18-20) & Sat/Sun 12-5pm (Sept 15-16)
at the Fremont Arts Council’s Power House, 3940 Fremont Ave N (come to the center of the universe to help illuminate the celebration!)
Bring materials to make something or come create something with materials on hand.
Volunteers are wanted to help with various tasks – this event is simple to put on, but there’s always stuff to do – we need help setting up, serving treats, selling lanterns, and break-down & clean-up.
If you’d like to lend a hand, please email < volunteer (at) fremontartscouncil (dot) org >.
All are invited to participate (no matter your age or your zip code.)
Invite your friends by sending them a link to this page or invite them on FaceBook.
Bring a handmade lantern, one from the store, or purchase one from us: all are beautiful! (All lantern purchase proceeds go directly back to the Fremont Arts Council, to produce future celebration events.)
