Egroups - really, just glorified mailing lists - are the main way the Fremont Arts Council stays in touch with its diverse members - and for its members to stay in touch with each other!

The FAC has three egroups, currently hosted by Yahoo! Groups. Each group site contains an archive of all the previous messages, along with areas to store files, photos, and links. You have a choice of signing up for any of the three (but relax; you probably won't need all of them!):

fremontartscouncil is our main list, used for general FAC business and notices of Arts-related events in and near the Fremont area. It averages about 2-3 messages a day, and is moderated (anyone can post a message, but it then has to be approved by one of the group moderators before it can be publicly seen).

Join the "fremontartscouncil" egroup by either:
1) Visiting http://yahoogroups.com/group/fremontartscouncil/join
OR
2) Sending a blank email to: fremontartscouncil-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

We strongly prefer method #1, because it allows you to get access to many other features of the egroup, such as file and message archives, pages of links and photos, and the ability to easily customize your group membership settings. Method #2 provides for email-only access with no ability to do much of anything else.

fac-announce is an extremely low-volume, announcement-only list - it seems maybe 2-3 postings per month. It sees only the most important notices of upcoming FAC gatherings, events, and opportunities. Sign up for it if you want no more than the bare-bones, essential scoop about what's going on. Only FAC staff can post new messages here.

Note: most people want use just one of "fac-announce" and "fremontartscouncil", not both, since major announcments are usually posted to both lists at the same time.

facbull is an an open, unmoderated community discussion list. It's the proper home for notices that are not Fremont-art-related (such as those for housing, garage sales, or fundraisers), or for members to explore, debate, and hold forth on current issues facing the FAC and its community. It's also useful for more detailed committe work that would generate too many message for the main FAC egroup.

2) Sending a blank email to: facbull-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Just a few more notes:

On all FAC lists, we encourage replies to go back the individual poster in private email, to keep list volume down.

If you sign up for a list via the "join" pages shown above, you can easily choose your mail preferences - whether you get the groups messages one at a time ("Individual emails"), or bundled into a single daily email ("daily digest"), or not at all ("Special Notices/No Email" - you want to participate in the group via the web archive only).
