Rest the Feast – Build the Team!

As the nights grew longer and talk turned from Luminata to Feast of the Winter Solstice, the Board realized that we do not have the capacity on our leadership team to plan, organize and lead the Feast this year.

The Feast, as do all FAC events, requires a solid team of volunteers to plan, organize and build it, not just board members and volunteers the day of the event. With this in mind, the Board held a public meeting on October 24th to discuss the feasibility of Feast 2019 and to see the level of interest among the membership. Three board members attended to answer questions and facilitate the meeting. Only one other person came. The consensus was that we should rest Feast because of concern that the limited number of volunteers who are producing all of the FAC events would burn out, and risk other events fading away as a result.

After much reflection, the Board has decided to rest the Feast of the Winter Solstice this year. In the future, we hope to have a Winter Solstice event that embraces the membership in a way that reflects our community.

It is essential that the FAC use these upcoming winter and spring months to focus on outreach, fundraising and development of the organization in hopes that we can come back in 2020 refreshed and ready for a new year of community and celebration. The FAC must clearly focus on building up our core volunteer team that makes the magic happen year ‘round.

Do you have the skills and enthusiasm to help the FAC shine?  We invite you to find out more and to please step up:

The greatest needs right now are for year ’round skilled and enthusiastic support with administration, fundraising, communications and volunteer engagement. Champions are always welcome to help with event planning, powerhouse support, and a wide range of other tasks. If any of that speaks to you, and you are ready to roll up your sleeves — please come to the next COW meeting on November 12th.  (Meets most second Tuesdays at 7pm at the Powerhouse).

The FAC has the opportunity to have an expanded Petit Troll fundraising event at Lagunitas Brewery on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 and we hope you will join us – to create art, create petit floats and create community as we kick off a glorious new year.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you all in 2020!

Artfully Yours,

Farley, Brigette, Dayna, Linda, Marie, Maque, Owl, and Lymarie
