The 30th annual Fremont Solstice Parade and Celebration is a day of community-centric art. Volunteers are essential to our success and everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned reveler we have opportunities for you. As a volunteer you will meet tons of fun people and support one of Seattle’s most treasured city-wide events. Volunteer Appreciation
The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) is incredibly grateful to our volunteers for all their hard work. There wouldn’t be a parade without you! As a token of our gratitude, all volunteers are invited to our Volunteer Appreciation Party on June 29th. It will be a night of food, fun, music, and surprises!

How to:

  • **Make sure to sign-up prior to June 9th in order to attend an orientation meeting (required for some positions)
  • Orientation Meeting Dates: (all orientations at the Powerhouse: 3940 Fremont Ave. N.)

  • *Powerhouse Hosts: Sat. June 2nd (10-11am)
  • *General Volunteers: Sat. June 9th (10-11am) OR Wed. June 14th (7-8pm)
  • *Parade Monitors & Parade Captains: Sat. June 9th (1-2pm) OR Tues. June 12th (7-8pm)
  • Read the role descriptions below including requirements. Follow the link to sign-up. Let us know your skills and interests. An automatic email confirmation sends after sign-up (check your spam folder). Lead organizers will be in contact by email closer to parade date to confirm your shifts. Questions?     Powerhouse Opportunities:

    Powerhouse Hosts: Hosts keep the powerhouse going strong. Be a greeter and art project starter. Lots of shifts in late May and early June for our Open Art Studio. Sign-up Here

    Get your hands dirty…glittery…sticky…painty…whatever it takes. Parade workshops are under development! Keep an eye on our online calendar for updates. Email: volunteer@fremontartscouncil.org to volunteer or plan a workshop.

    Parade Opportunities:

    Parade Captains: Parade Captains have one of the best views of the parade! You’ll help guide the parade ensembles while reminding guests to stay out of the street. Orientation required (June 9th or June 12th only). (Shift: June 16, 11am-4pm)Sign-up Here

    Green Hats: Green Hatters raise money for the Solstice Parade by revving up the crowd. Grab your friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors and join our green-clad fundraiser ensemble. Elaborate costumes a must! 2018 theme: TBA. All ages, orientation required. (Shift: June 16, 11am-4pm)Sign-up Here

    Chalk/Programs Distributor: Costume up to pass out chalk and cards to the gathering crowds. You’ll walk the parade route backwards before the parade begins with a wagon of goodies. All ages, orientation required. (Shift: June 16, 11am-2pm) Sign-up Here

    Hospitality Helpers: Ready the hospitality table for staff and performers. Hospitality tasks include minor preparation of food and beverage. Must have valid food handling card. Orientation required. Sign-up Here

    VIP Seating Hosts: The VIP Hosts make sure our guests find the right seats and are comfortable. Any remaining seats you’ll sell on site. VIP Hosts must have a smartphone to operate a square reader. Orientation required. (Shift: June 16, 10am-3pm) Sign-up Here

    Parade First Aid Helpers: Committed to helping others? First-Aid Volunteers assist the First Aid Lead with responding to medical emergencies: mostly minor scrapes and dehydration. EMT certification and experience is highly valued. First Aid and CPR training also be a big bonus! Sign-up Here

    Finale Signs Entourage: Join the parade finale! The Signs Entourage will walk between our final float and the clean-up team to encourage onlookers to follow the parade to Gasworks Park. Sign-up Here

    Gasworks Celebration Opportunities:

    Gasworks Green Team: Help keep the park clean and green by emptying trash periodically during the celebration No orientation required. Sign-up Here

    Gasworks Information Booth: These volunteers interact directly with the public, answering questions about FAC and the Solstice Parade, first aid, lost and found and the music schedule. Orientation required. (Shifts: June 16, 1-3:30pm, or 3:15-5:15pm or 5-7pm)Sign-up Here

    Volunteer First Aid Helpers: Committed to helping others? First-Aid Volunteers assist the First Aid Lead with responding to medical emergencies: mostly minor scrapes and dehydration, and will make any necessary calls for back-up. EMT certification and experience is highly valued. First Aid and CPR training also be a big bonus! (Shifts: June 16, 1:30-4pm or 4:15-7:15pm, or 7-9pm) Sign-up Here

    Gasworks Hospitality Team: This team staffs our performer hospitality booth at the end of the parade. You’ll be giving out free snacks and will quickly become the performers’ favorite people.(Shift: June 16, 1:30-4pm) Sign-up Here
