2026 Luminata Art Grants
Bring light to Green Lake this September! The Fremont Arts Council is seeking artists, designers, musicians, performers, and makers to create illuminated art, installations, performances, and processional works for Luminata, our annual celebration of the autumnal equinox.

Grant Opportunities
Materials and transportation grants available up to $1,000.
Applications are open to: Individual artists , Artist teams or collectives, Community groups, Organizations working in all mediums as long as the project incorporates light
Important: Artist groups may receive only one grant award.
Artist Grants
We welcome artists working in all mediums as long as the project incorporates light.
Examples include: Lanterns, Sculpture, Puppetry, Projection mapping, Illuminated costumes, Interactive installations, Dance and movement, Floating artwork, Processional ensembles, Stationary installations
Projects may travel in the procession around Green Lake or be installed at designated locations along the route.
Opening Ceremony Grant
One grant available – $500
We're looking for an artist or performance group to create a memorable opening ceremony to begin Luminata.
The performance should be approximately 15 minutes and celebrate the transition into autumn while welcoming participants to the evening's procession.
Past ceremonies have featured music, dance, puppetry, ritual, and large-scale visual performance.
Musician Grants
We're seeking musicians to perform throughout the event.
Performance opportunities include:
Leading the lantern procession
Stationary performances around Green Lake
Acoustic or amplified performances
All musical genres welcome
Illuminated instruments or costumes are encouraged but not required.
Art Transportation Grants
Already have an illuminated artwork?
Small transportation grants are available to help cover expenses such as:
Truck rental
Fuel
Trailer rental
Other transportation costs
Our goal is to help bring existing illuminated artwork to Luminata.
Event Requirements
Luminata takes place outdoors at night in Green Lake Park.
Lighting & Power
All artwork must be fully self-powered for approx. 4hours
Projects may be powered using: Rechargeable battery packs, USB power banks, AA or AAA battery packs, Rechargeable lantern batteries, Portable power stations , Solar-charged batteries
Weather
Luminata is an outdoor event.
Projects should be designed to withstand typical September weather, including light rain and wind, and should be safely transportable to and from Green Lake.
No previous Luminata experience is required. We encourage proposals from both first-time participants and returning artists.
