To encourage a welcoming and safe atmosphere, we have the following Respect and Inclusion Policy for all Fremont Arts Council events and venues:
We want events to be a celebratory and enjoyable experience for all involved, and we encourage all participants to treat others with respect.
The Fremont Arts Council does not discriminate against individuals on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, disability, appearance, body size, age, veteran status, ancestry, nationality, ethnic origin, or other protected category.
We also actively reach out to all communities across Seattle to welcome everyone to participate and find new opportunities for collaboration. If you know of a community that we do not currently collaborate with that you would like to see us work with more closely, please let us know by emailing fac@fremontartscouncil.org.
Freedom of expression and creativity is encouraged within the boundaries of respect for others.
No violence, hate speech, verbal or physical assault, abuse, yelling or other forms of harassment will be permitted by anyone on the premises.
Speak up if you see or hear something. Harassment is not tolerated, and you are empowered to politely engage when you or others are disrespected. The person making you feel uncomfortable may not be aware of what they are doing, and politely bringing their behavior to their attention is encouraged if you feel comfortable doing so.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone whose presence in Fremont Arts Council venues or events detracts from the safety, welfare, and well-being of others at the sole discretion of the Fremont Arts Council board of directors in consultation with event staff. This means patrons may be asked to leave if they are violating any of our policies, and membership and other rights may be terminated. Refunds may or may not be given at the sole discretion of the Fremont Arts Council board of directors in consultation with event staff.
We do not host or collaborate with groups, organizations, or individuals whose teachings and/or employment practices are known to be discriminatory based on age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, class, sexual orientation, or any other protected category.
We also acknowledge we cannot fully vet or know everything past and present about all artists, and while we do our best to only host artists who adhere to our respect policy, we may miss something. Please feel free to contact us if you are aware of a problem with a particular participant.
Please help this community be a safe space. If you have seen something inappropriate at an event or something that you believe to be in violation of this policy, please speak to a staff person at the event right away and send us information via email fac(at)fremontartscouncil.org.
Thank you for helping everyone have a welcoming and celebratory artistic experience.
Staff may require patrons to leave the premises if they are unable or unwilling to adhere to the respectful nature of our events.
Please do not touch, stand or sit too close to other attendees without their consent.
Child policy: We are an all ages venue for the vast majority of our events.
Children up to age 15 must be accompanied by a parent/adult. Older children can participate without an adult but must have permission from a parent or guardian. Some events may be labeled with an age requirement so parents will be aware in the rare case where they are not appropriate for children.
We are regularly in consultation with our Board, staff, and other advisors to improve our systems. If you see a great system or policy out there, please send it along for us to learn from. Thank you!
