We’ll be finishing up our Surrealist projects from our Thursday night small works and prop series. No experience or previous attendance of this series is required, just be ready to dive in with us and add some finishing touches.
UNREAL. An Immersive evening of Oddities
Guests are invited to wander freely, engage with the work, and experience the gallery as a living collage. Unreal: An Immersive Evening of Oddities is a playful fundraising celebration that helps keep Fremont’s public art events accessible to all. Join us for an evening fueled by art, interaction, cocktails, and small bites.
While the night is rich with wonder, the heart of the event is our high-energy Live Paddle Raise. Admission is just the beginning—come prepared to raise your paddle and directly fund the future of public art in Fremont.

Demo Series: Intro to Paper Mache & Open Studio
We’ll start the evening with a paper mache paste making demo, then demonstrate some of our applications for using it to make giant puppets. Demo guests are welcome to stay for the workshop and lend a helping hand to paper mache projects underway or make something of their own.
Demo Series: Intro to Float Builds & Open Studio
Are you interested in making a float or offering helping hands where they are needed on float builds for the Solstice Parade? If so, please join us for an introduction and orientation for the float building process. Come to get inspired, learn build techniques, find out what is available, and get oriented with who/what is available to make your float dreams a reality.
May Day
Join us on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Meridian Playground (near the Good Shepherd Center) for a joyous celebration of the season's arrival!
Event Highlights:
Community Potluck Picnic: Bring a dish to share and enjoy a communal feast with neighbors and friends.
Flower Headdress Making: Craft your own beautiful floral crown to embrace the spirit of May Day.
Children's Games & Crafts: Fun-filled activities designed to delight our younger attendees.
Maypole Dance: Participate in the traditional dance around the Maypole—a centerpiece of May Day festivities.

Solstice Parade
Celebrate with us on the longest day of the year with the Fremont Arts Council’s most spectacular event. Where everyone can be an artist.
Come be dazzled as community-based, people-powered ensembles parade down the streets of Fremont with giant puppets, stilt walkers, floats, dancers, cyclists, and musicians in this kaleidoscope of joyous human expression.
Luminata
The Fremont Arts Council celebrates the autumnal equinox with our illuminated lantern procession around Green Lake!
The lantern shop will open at 5:30 PM on Saturday September 20th. You can purchase lanterns, with all proceeds benefiting the Fremont Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The procession will begin at 7:30 PM following the lead band around Green Lake. At the end of the procession, some illuminated art will be on display for your enjoyment!
Trolloween
Troll-O-Ween is both a birthday party for the Fremont Troll and a celebration of Halloween. This fun community event features great costumes, a theatrical performance, and a high-energy samba band and dancers, who are all dressed in lighted skeleton costumes that leads the festive crowd on a procession through the Fremont neighborhood.

We’ll be making coffee table scaled small sculptures inspired by Surrealist artists. Think Dali’s long legged elephants, Varso’s ghostly figures, Leonora Carrington’s birds, or whatever surrealist inspires you.

Lend a hand
Jenny is looking for a few helping hands — literally. Join us as we create plaster hand casts for an upcoming Gala art installations.
Create plaster casts of real hands to be used in an art installation for our upcoming Gala fundraiser. I’m looking for a small group of volunteers (men and women!) willing to sit for a short casting session.
Not only will you be helping bring these pieces to life, you’ll also learn about working with plaster gauze and paper mâché. It’s a great chance to get hands-on (pun intended) and pick up some new techniques.

Surrealist Prop Photo Op Workshop
No prior experience is necessary, only a willingness to play and to see beyond what an object is toward what it might become. Working with assemblage techniques, participants will combine found objects to help construct props for our UnReal Gala. We'll explore how everyday materials can be reimagined into 2 and 3 dimensional props that feel as though they’ve emerged from a dream.

Petit Troll: Mini Mardi Gras Parade
Parade Day is Sunday, February 15th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, and we want YOU to be part of it. The parade will process from Evanston Plaza through PCC and end at Fremont Sunday Market and there we will have a stage featuring lively music, costumes, dancing, and, of course, lots of quirky, creative mini floats!

Upcycle Aquatic Art
Join Brooke to help get Merlantis through its home stretch in making this immersive experience come to life!
We'll be creating black light mobiles of jellyfish, fish, and plankton for the Abyssal Zone in True Mischiff's mermaids of the Pacific garbage patch installation at Basecamp Studios 2.
Opening night is January 30th and the show runs through March.
