Honor the traditions of Día de Muertos at the final Night Shift of the season at Pike Place Market!
Presented in partnership with Día de Muertos PNW, Downtown Art Walk, El Centro de la Raza, The Rabbit Box, and the Seattle Office of Economic Development, this special event honors Día de Muertos while celebrating Seattle’s vibrant arts community and the diverse cultures that make our city unique. As one of Seattle’s oldest and most beloved gathering places, Pike Place Market welcomes people from all backgrounds to connect through art, music, food, and shared experiences.

Troll-O-Ween is both a birthday party for the Fremont Troll and a celebration of Halloween. This fun community event features great costumes, a theatrical performance, and a high-energy samba band and dancers, who are all dressed in lighted skeleton costumes that leads the festive crowd on a procession through the Fremont neighborhood.
Dia de Muertos: PRESSED TIN FRAMES
Learn traditional pressed tin techniques to create your own unique Día de Muertos frame! Each participant will make two frames, one to take home and one to contribute to the community altar at the event.

Dia de Muertos: BUILD THE BASES
From Chicken Wire & Mesh lets build the structural bases for the skeletons’ oversized accessories using chicken wire and mesh. We’ll shape the forms and get them ready to be decorated. No Registration Required

Tails and Tentacles
We're getting weird and wiggly in preparation for Trolloween, October 31st at the Fremont Troll! The evening starts with a demonstration of how various kinds of tails and tentacles are designed and made. Guests are welcome to stay and join Brooke for the rest of the evening creating a tail or tentacle prototype of their choice.
A $15 donation is appreciated to cover costs for materials.
CALAVERA MASKS WORKSHOP
Mark your calendars for October 23rd! For the first time, Seattle will celebrate El Dia de los Muertos at Pike Place. Come and make your Calavara masks for this cultural art and community gathering. Start with a pre-made paper skull mask and make it your own! Customize it with paper mâché, flowers, decorative details, or simply decorate the mask as is.

Luminata
The Fremont Arts Council celebrates the autumnal equinox with our illuminated lantern procession around Green Lake!
The lantern shop will open at 5:30 PM on Saturday September 19th. You can purchase lanterns, with all proceeds benefiting the Fremont Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The procession will begin at 7:30 PM following the lead band around Green Lake. At the end of the procession, some illuminated art will be on display for your enjoyment!

Jellyfish Lantern Workshop
Join the Fremont Arts Council for a Free hands-on lantern-making workshop at Jellyfish Brewing on Saturday, September 12 from 2–6 PM!
Create your own glowing jellyfish lantern to take home and make a second lantern to donate to Luminata, our annual lantern procession around Green Lake on September 19. Donated lanterns will be sold at Luminata, with proceeds helping support the event.
