Puppet Head making w/ Brian Kooser: Day 2
Learn from the great puppet artist Brian Kooser of Blue Bear Puppet Lab. Brian has brought his ensembles to our Solstice Parade for years, and you may have seen his annual "Buskers in the Burg" puppet parade in Ellensburg every September.
This class has some flexibility in the size and number of the paper mache heads made by the class participants. Brian will work with the class participants in small groups to determine the best number of heads to be successfully constucted. Our May Day event this year includes some animal puppets, those have smaller heads worn as masks. Additionally, large puppets are highly encouraged to join our Solstice Parade. Brian has extensive experience teaching both types of puppet heads.
After the class, participants will be welcome to use their skills to build their own puppet head in our artist workshop space, the Powerhouse. You can participate in a giant puppet ensemble in the Solstice Parade, and future Solstice Parades! This is a skill to last a lifetime of giant puppet fun.
The class is held over the weekend of April 5th and 6th at our artist workshop, the Powerhouse in Fremont. Classes will start each day at 10:00AM and last for 6 hours each day. By the end, you will have enough skill to build your own giant puppet head, and teach others the skills.
